From foe to friend

Being used to working with oil paints, Fenix had a hard time mastering acrylic painting. The obvious advantage of acrylics is that they are much less expensive. The biggest difference is that acrylic paint dries much faster. "I really liked painting wet in wet with oil paints," Fenix says, "so at first it seemed I just could not get the hang of painting with acrylics. I really disliked it. I had to try - and fail - and try again. Gradually the efforts changed my approach to painting. It changed my way of thinking. After a year or two I finally became friends with the medium. Now I love working with acrylic paints. It allows me to experiment and I feel a complete freedom."
